| About a year and a half ago, Pepé Willie (President, PMI) teamed up with Ben Obi, combining their artist development and production skills to form Reo Deo. The combined work ethics of both Pepé and Ben creates a very effective team dynamic. Pepé Willie has owned and operated Pepé Music Inc. in the Minneapolis area since 1975 and is well respected for his work. Pepé accumulated a great deal of business knowledge before moving to Minneapolis. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and learned the business from working with his Uncles group, Little Anthony and the Imperials, as well as all the other popular groups of that era who performed at the Brooklyn Fox and Paramount Theatres. Pepé has worked with many artists since 1975, most notably Prince, André Cymone, Morris Day, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Colonel Abrams. (He was Prince and André Cymones first producer.) Pepé was inducted into the Minnesota Black Musicians Hall of Fame in 1988 for his pivotal role in the development of the Minneapolis Music Scene. Pepé Willie has an extensive history in cultivating fresh, raw talent and teaching the business of music. As a music producer/remixer/songwriter, Ben Obi brings a multi-national flavor to Reo Deo. He grew up and lived in London, England and Lagos, Nigeria before moving to Minneapolis. Ben jointly established Savannah Street Music in 1991 and has spent the last few years working with national and international artists/groups, including Alexander ONeal, Tribe of Millions and Maxi Priest. With songwriting, production, mixing and remixing credits of over 500 songs, Ben brings a lot of experience to Reo Deo. |
